Parts of Missouri have gotten disaster aid for December flooding, but Pike County is still waiting reimbursement for damage caused by high water nine months ago.
The damage caused by flooding from May to July last year is estimated at more than 400 thousand dollars. So far, Pike County has not gotten a dime in federal reimbursements. Officials recently were told the county is still on track to receive the money.
Meanwhile, the feds have paid out more than 40 million dollars in disaster aid for areas in Missouri hit by high water in December.
Lincoln County is one of 37 in Missouri that are eligible for assistance. Illinois has until February 26th to seek similar aid for 10 counties.
Flooding appears to be more common than ever in Pike County. Six of the top 10 floods from the last 200 years have hit since 1993, and three of the top five have occurred since 2008.
