Missourians are running out of time to pay their personal property taxes without penalty.
County collectors sent out tax statements last month and the deadline to pay up is December 31st.
In Pike County, the collector’s office at the courthouse in Bowling Green will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. December 28th, 29th and 30th. Hours on December 31st will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Taxpayers who wait until the last minute likely will encounter lines. Residents who mail payments should make sure their letters are postmarked by December 31st.
Late payments could get expensive. Penalties are nine percent of your total bill during January and two percent each month thereafter.
