The Louisiana Alumni and Friends Association has made a decision to publish a 2nd, but limited Edition of their recipe book. The previous copy sold out very quickly and there have been many requests since that time. The 2012 version contained a History of Louisiana Schools that was penned by Bea Goodin, a retired teacher from the district, in addition to well over 150 pages of recipes submitted by Alumni and friends or family of Alumni. Also included were "secret" recipes from some of the favorite diners throughout Louisiana history.
Proceeds from the book, along with most other fundraising efforts by the group, are used to help accomplish part of the mission of the group; financial support for the school district. Recently, the group has helped purchase and install the new sound system at the Middle School, the new scoreboard at the football field and shelving at Primary School. As government tightens it's belt on funding, the school district will need groups like the Alumni Association to step forward to support our students.
Anyone who would like to submit a recipe may do so using the groups website www.louisianaalumniassociation.org and send an email OR send an email directly to the cookbook Chairman Sandy Sitton Niemeyer. sandybobniemeyer@gmail.com OR simply mail a PRINTED copy to PO Box 404., Louisiana MO 63353. Be sure to include YOUR name and association with the school/class. Submissions from retired teachers and administration seem to be among the favorites!
The alumni association will also be hosting a TRIVIA NIGHT on January 16th. Tables for up to 8 people are just $100. Participants can bring in their own food/drink. Often times teams choose a theme for their table and decorate (often times, this is seen as an intimidation ploy). The event will be held at Seton Center on N. 3rd Street in Louisiana. There will also be some great Silent Auction Items for attendees to bid on and of course door prizes. No registration is required, but if anyone has a questions, they may contact Walter Logan, Cindy Blaylock or Pam Todd.
