Pike County may be flirting with some weather records for this part of December.
Predictions of temperatures in the 60s over the next few days mean there’s a chance some long-standing milestones may fall.
The record high for the month – 78 degrees on December 9th of 1991 – probably is safe. But record temps for the period from December 10th to December 13th range from 63 degrees in 1965 to 73 degrees in 1991.
As for moisture, Pike County already has plenty. Rainfall for November was just a little over five inches – well above the three-and-a-half inches that usually falls.
However, the county is an inch below its normal precipitation total for the first 11 months of the year, despite one of its wettest three-month periods in history from May through July.
