Missouri 79 drivers are now enjoying a new, wider bridge at Big Calumet Creek just north of Clarksville. The bridge was replaced by MoDOT Contractor Lehman Bros., LLC for $1.2 million and is now open to traffic. "We appreciate the patience of all drivers and especially the City of Clarksville for working with us throughout the project," said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner.
Crews still have to do some seeding and mulching around the bridge, so drivers may encounter flaggers during that work over the next few weeks.
There are several bridges along MO 79 that will be repaired or replaced over the next few years. "We encourage those who travel this road on a regular basis sign up for our email updates and text alerts to stay informed," Haeffner encouraged. To do so, go to http://www.modot.org/ and click on the Travelers tab.
All emergency, current and future (within 7 days) road work is posted on MoDOT's traveler information map at http://www.modot.org/.
