More questions are arising as Pike County Memorial Hospital looks at merging with the Pike County Health Department, Home Health and Hospice.
In addition to legal and tax hurdles, a decision would have to be made about what to do with the health department’s four-year-old, state-of-the-art facility near Walmart in Bowling Green.
The Home Care and Hospice Foundation of Pike County owns the building, and several members of the Hospice Board have said they’re disappointed that the panel wasn’t told about the merger talks sooner.
Officials have said there would be no job losses, tax increases of facility closures from the joint venture. Pike County voters and state lawmakers would have to act before a deal could happen.
The hospital and health department have cautioned that the talks are in the early stages and that no agreements have been made.
