The Twin Pike Family YMCA has gotten a national grant to fund a first-ever summer meals program for kids.

The $20,000 grant comes from YMCA of the USA and the Walmart Foundation. It will pay for a free noon meal and a free snack for all children 18 and under.

The Y serves Pike County Missouri and Pike County Illinois. This is the first time the Louisiana-based facility will serve regular meals.

The program will follow USDA nutritional guidelines. Kids will have to indicate the method of transportation they used to get to the YMCA.

Volunteers and food service staff from local schools will serve the food. Additional volunteers are needed and may sign up by calling 573-754-4497.
