The Twin Pike Family YMCA is nearing completion of its multi-million-dollar aquatics center.
The first fill of the pool with water is taking place this week to cure the plaster, and other final touches are being made.
A grand opening has not been scheduled, but YMCA Executive Director Marsha Garrison says everything’s on target for the goal of a July 1st opening.
The three-point-eight-million dollar project got under way in fall 2013. Money came from the Mabee Foundation and donations.
Garrison said only less than one percent of pledged contributions have not yet been received. That compares to a national average of 10 percent for large projects.
The YMCA will manage the Bowling Green public swimming pool this summer, but a contract has not been reached for the Louisiana pool.
