Debate continues over a high-voltage power line that would cross Missouri and Illinois.

The president of the Texas-based company behind the proposed project met with Missouri landowners this week.

Clean Line Energy Partners hopes to build the 750-mile Grain Belt Express high-voltage line from Kansas to Indiana.

Randolph, Monroe and Ralls counties in Northeast Missouri and Pike and Scott counties in West-Central Illinois are included on the route.

Clean Line has given the Missouri Public Service Commission data showing customer interest, engineering details and studies it says demonstrate the benefits.

Opponents counter with concerns about land values, the use of eminent domain and what they say is a lack of benefit to Missouri electricity customers.

Grain Belt has been given the green light at the federal level and in Kansas and Indiana. But Missouri and Illinois have yet to approve the project.
