Memorial Day is right around the corner and with it being a day of remembrance the Cancer Memorial Park Foundation will be hosting their annual spring ceremony in the park on the square in Bowling Green. This year the event will begin at 9 a.m. and at that time the names of all those honored in the park will be read aloud. Additionally, the choir will perform various selection and a guest speakers will address the crowd. Roses will be available to purchase to place in front of the Jesus statue.
The deadline to order pavers for the Memorial Day ceremony has passed, but more pavers will be placed in August prior to the Champ Clark Heritage Festival held the second Saturday in September each year. Pavers are available for purchase to honor anyone who is currently fighting cancer, has beat cancer or remember those who has lost the battle. The 4×8 brick pavers cost $100. If you want something a bit bigger, 8×8 pavers are available for $250 in addition to planter benches, which have an 8×8 piece of granite for engraving, for $750. Also right now granite markers that are 8×12, which will be placed in the garden beds, are available for $1,500. All donations for memorials are tax deductible as the Cancer Memorial Park Foundation is a 501c3 organization registered in the state of Missouri. All proceeds are donated to organizations that assist in the fight against cancer such as Home Care and Hospice Foundation of Pike County and the American Cancer Society.
