Longtime Louisiana City Clerk Sharon Kakouris will soon be out of a job.
Mayor Bart Niedner says he does not plan to reappoint Kakouris to the position she’s held for more than 14 years. Kakouris said the move came as a surprise and that she’s not sure what she’ll do next.
Niedner said the decision was in the better long-term interest of all involved, adding that the city is making changes in personnel structure, introducing significant technology and building a stronger departmental structure. He thanked Kakouris for her service and dedication.
The city clerk’s annual term expires May 31st, but Kakouris plans to stay on through the end of June to help with the transition.
City Court Clerk Niki Wallace has been reassigned as the assistant city clerk. Niedner said he will announce a full-time replacement for Kakouris at the city council’s July meeting.
The mayor added the appointment will likely come from within, but that all possibilities are being examined.
