With trees and flowers in bloom people will start to make their way outdoors to shake off the cabin fever and many will make their way to the Cancer Memorial Park on the square in Bowling Green. The park was started by the Cancer Memorial Park Foundation to give patrons in the surrounding areas a place to honor and remember those who have fought the battle with cancer. Now is the time to order your personalized paver or bench to be placed in the park prior to the spring ceremony on Memorial Day morning. Each year during the spring and fall ceremonies names of all those remembered in the park are read, songs are sung by choirs and different guest speakers address the crowd. Additionally, at the Memorial Day service roses will be available to purchase to place in front of the Jesus statue.
Pavers are available for purchase to honor anyone who is currently fighting cancer, has beat cancer or remember those who has lost the battle. The 4×8 brick pavers cost $100. Maybe you want something a bit bigger, 8×8 pavers are available for $250 in addition to planter benches, which have an 8×8 piece of granite for engraving, for $750. Plus right now granite markers that are 8×12, which will be placed in the garden beds, are available for $1,500. The order deadline is May 8 to have the memorials placed in the park this May, before Memorial Day. Orders after May 8 will be placed in the park in August. All donations for memorials are tax deductible as the Cancer Memorial Park Foundation is a 501c3 organization registered in the state of Missouri. All proceeds are donated to organizations that assist in the fight against cancer such as Home Care and Hospice Foundation of Pike County and the American Cancer Society. Honor your loved ones today and support the cause by placing an order.
Brick order forms are available in a mailbox on the back wall of the park, at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home or the Daffron main office plus you can find one in this newspaper.
