The Pike County Illinois Sheriff’s Department is asking people to call before controlled burns.

A notice will allow the department to alert fire crews in the area around the controlled burn to be ready in case things get out of hand.

The sheriff’s office also reminds people to be aware of windy or dry conditions before lighting a flame.
