A lawsuit is still a possibility in the wake of Bob Jenne’s decision to step down as Louisiana’s administrative police chief.
The resignation takes effect at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 18th. Jenne declined to offer a reason, but left the door open for possible legal action involving his earlier dismissal as city administrator.
Mayor Bart Niedner said he was not surprised by the resignation and wished Jenne well. Niedner recommended Jenne be fired as city administrator after allegations that Jenne mishandled government-mandated water plant improvements.
Jenne denied the charges and countered that Niedner and other city officials had been well-informed about the project’s scope and costs.
The City Council voted in January to dismiss Jenne and upheld the decision at a hearing three weeks later. However, Jenne kept his job as police department administrator.
Niedner said city officials in the coming weeks will look at options that include hiring another police administrator or searching for a police chief.
