Pike County Missouri has a 70 percent chance of minor flooding this spring.
The National Weather Service also predicts a 30 percent to 40 percent likelihood of a moderate inundation. The good news is that the chance of major flooding is 10 percent or less.
Forecasters base the projections at Louisiana and Clarksville on current conditions. Residents and community leaders are wary of such predictions.
In both Louisiana and Clarksville, four of the six worst floods during the last two centuries have happened in just the last 14 years.
