The Louisiana Fire Department should be getting a new thermal imager soon.
The city council is expected Monday, March 9th, to approve funding for completion of the 93 hundred dollar purchase.
The fire department raised more than six thousand dollars strictly from donations to fund two-thirds of the cost.
Fire Chief Mike Lesley says his crew is appreciative to all who contributed.. The thermal imager can aid firefighters in seeing what’s inside burning buildings.
The new camera will replace an obsolete model that dates to 1998. If the council approves the purchase, the department will get a loaner until the new imager arrives in about a month.
