With the Missouri firearms deer season starting this Saturday, the state is offering a few reminders about a major change.
This year, hunters may only fill one anterless permit per county during the firearms season – this also includes the anterless season which follows the upcoming 11-day season. Hunters have the option of taking two anterless deer by filling their any deer permit, but they will then be forfeiting any chance at taking a buck.
The exceptions are in urban areas and in six Northern Missouri counties that include Macon, Randolph and Adair. In those places, two permits will be allowed.
The Missouri Department of Conservation made the decision last spring and if you need any additional clarification you may contact Pike County Conservation Agents Mike Christensen (573-470-0017) and Chris Grote (573-470-0129).
The first firearms season in Illinois starts November 21st.
