Louisiana Mayor Bart Niedner says he plans to appoint a replacement for City Councilman Tim Carter by November.
The retired Hannibal fire chief and Louisiana downtown building developer resigned after moving from the First Ward to the Third, where he bought a house.
Carter defeated Neal Darnell by just 14 votes in last April’s election.
Niedner says he is seeking nominations from interested First Ward residents. The person chosen by the mayor would have to be approved by the city council.
Meanwhile, Carter says he’s still concerned about issues such as city spending, and will consider running next year for a Third Ward council seat.
