Pike County Missouri can expect a low voter turnout for Tuesday’s primary election.
County Clerk Melissa Kempke forecasts a turnout of 30 percent or less. She says a lack of candidates and issues are to blame.
While there are five constitutional amendments and races for federal offices on the ballot, the only local competition is for presiding commissioner on the Democrat side. In that race, incumbent Dan Miller is challenged by Terry Burris.
The county’s 14 polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
