Missourians will get to vote on a statewide sales tax increase three months earlier than expected.
The constitutional amendment has been moved from the November election to the August ballot.
The measure would increase the state’s sales tax by three-quarters-of-a-cent. It would generate more than 500 million dollars a year over a decade for transportation projects.
Also moved to the August primary ballot were proposals that would guarantee the right to farming practices, create a lottery ticket that would benefit veterans, prevent unreasonable electronic searches and make the right to bear arms intrinsic.
Left on the November general election ballot are proposals on sex crimes prosecutions, powers of the governor and the creation of an early voting period.
