The
July 4th Committee working under the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce
has been busy planning a 4th of July Celebration at the Louisiana Riverfront. The possibility of flooding is being
monitored. At this time no changes in
plans have taken place.
Activities planned include vendor
booths opening at 5pm, Lil’ Mr. and Miss Firecracker contest at 6:30pm followed
by Miss Liberty contest and fireworks with a DJ at dark.
Vendor booths will open at 5pm and this
year’s vendors booths offer snow cones, Sandy Candy, hot dogs, pork burgers,
pork steak, soda, water, face painting, carnival games, fresh lemonade, walking
tacos, light up glow sticks called Lumitons, glow in the dark tattoos and US
Cellular services.
The Little Mr.
and Miss Firecracker & Miss Liberty contests will take place at 6:30pm. Registration
for this event will take place at the Riverfront from 5-6pm. There will be
a booth dedicated to registration. There is no registration fee for these
contests. Little
Mr. and Miss Firecracker is for boys and girls ages 3 through 7. Miss Liberty
is for girls ages 8 through 13. Neither contest has a dress code. In the past,
most contestants have been dressed in patriotic colors. Each Little Miss and
Mr. Firecracker contestant will be asked to answer a question and Miss Liberty
contestants will be asked two questions. For all contests
the winners will receive a crown or tiara, a sash and will be eligible to ride
in the Colorfest parade (which will be October 19th this year).
