Reports this morning (Saturday, April 20) are that the Champ
Clark Bridge in Louisiana has closed as of 7 a.m. this morning. Water levels as
of 6 a.m. this morning in Louisiana were at 23.76 feet – at 24 feet water
begins to cover US Hwy. 54 on the Illinois side. Also, be cautious when traveling through the
south side of the city as several side roads have been closed.
In Clarksville this morning, river levels were at 33.65
feet. Road closures due to the flooding waters include Hwy. 79 north of
Clarksville. Traffic is being detoured over Routes D and H. Local traffic from
the south may use Route H to Route W to enter Clarksville and from the north
Route D to Route WW to Route W.

This morning, Saturday, April 20 at approximately 7:30 a.m., IDOT andMoDOT crews closed the Champ Clark Bridge on US 54 over the Mississippi River at Louisiana due to flooding in Illinois.
Motorists traveling into Illinois will be detoured over US 61 and 36 to the Mark Twain Memorial Bridge at Hannibal, US 61/24 to the Quincy Bayview Bridge at West Quincy or south to St. Louis. Lighted message signs are being placed on US 36 and 61 at Hannibal, US 61 and 54 near Bowling Green, and at Atlas, Illinois to advise motorists of the road closure. Motorists will need to follow the detoured routes or consider other local routes to the Mark Twain Memorial Bridge at Hannibal. Crews will open the roadway as soon as the water recedes and has been cleared for safe travel.
