A replacement for the Kroger store in Louisiana might also mean a new address.
An official with Niemann Foods in Quincy Illinois said Monday that the grocery chain is studying all options for a Louisiana store.
One possibility is to fill the space Kroger left in the Twin Pike Shopping Center, but another is to build a new store.
Gerry Kettler is director of consumer affairs for Niemann Foods. He says the grocer hopes to learn more about what the community wants and what it will support during a public meeting Thursday. It’s at 6:30 p.m. at the Twin Pike Family YMCA in Louisiana.
Niemann built a County Market last year in Palmyra, and Kettler said construction has not been ruled out in Louisiana.
However, he cautioned that no decision has been made and that Niemann will weigh what is viable before proceeding.
Niemann operates almost 100 supermarkets, convenience stores, pet shops and hardware stores throughout the Midwest, and traces its roots to 1917.
