HANNIBAL – The Champ Clark Bridge in Louisiana on US 54 is now open after being closed at approximately 8:30 a.m. due to an accident. It is open to legal loads only; no super loads or oversized vehicles will be allowed at this time. The bridge has been inspected by MoDOT engineers and repairs have been made to the railing.
"We have made immediate repairs to get the bridge safely open, and we will make more permanent repairs within the next few months," said Travis Wombwell, MoDOT bridge inspector. The Champ Clark Bridge was built in 1928 and has been identified as an unfunded priority with MoDOT and its planning partners.
