The Clopton Lady Hawks return to state for the second consecutive year thanks to a 14-4 victory over LaPlata in quarterfinal action on Saturday.
The Lady Hawks came out on fire scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first. During the rally senior Katie Danuser had a two-run homer over the left field fence. She ended the day 4-4 and just a triple short of hitting for the cycle. Junior Kayla Parrish went 4-5 and was a home run shy of the cycle. Additionally, senior Taylor Barker went 3-4 with 3 RBI's on the day. Clopton was at the plate 39 times and got 14 runs on 21 hits.
Senior pitcher Kelsea Dorsey went the distance of six innings, she ended the day with 12 strikeouts, one walk and two earned runs. She faced 27 at bats and overall the Lady Hawks allowed four runs on seven hits.
Now Clopton will travel to Springfield for state playoffs beginning Friday afternoon at 1 pm where they will face last year's quarterfinals opponent Crocker. Class 1 Championship Bracket
