Through the course of the investigation in the child abduction in Louisiana of four year old Alisa Maier,
investigators recovered in Lincoln County several items stolen during
two burglaries within the Pike County jurisdiction. The items recovered were a
Hi-point 380 handgun, St. Clement Auto Sales and Service checks, tires stolen from St. Clement Auto Sales and Service and a laptop computer stolen from Split Rail Vet Clinic. Paul S. Smith of Hawk Point has been considered the suspect in the burglaries which occurred on July 2.

Smith was also connected to the murder of Jeff Smith of Hawk Point. Last week Paul Smith turned a gun on himself when law enforcement officials approached him for questioning. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Medical Center in St. Charles at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
