According to AAA, 34.9
million people will travel this holiday weekend. If you’re one of them, don’t
forget to bring one of your most important necessities– your cell phone. It can
be a helpful tool during an emergency and keeps you in touch with friends and
family.
U.S. Cellular encourages
all travelers to keep these tips in mind:
- If your plans
involve a road trip, invest in a hands-free device for your phone. - Make safety
your number one priority by having a passenger make and take calls for you
or simply wait to use your phone when the vehicle is safely stopped. - Pre-program
important numbers into your phone such as hotel, car rental agency, travel
agent and local emergency numbers before you leave home. - Keep a phone charger in your car, and
make sure your cell phone battery is charged in case of an emergency. - Have a plan in place in case your
phone is lost or stolen while on vacation. Save an entry in your phonebook
labeled “IF LOST” with a family member or friend’s phone number, and call
your cell phone service provider immediately to report the loss.
Store an ICE – or In Case of Emergency – contact in
your phone’s address book
