PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — The Pike Lincoln County Port Authority (PLCPA) has purchased some of the property previously referred to as the Holcim property and will immediately begin plans for development of Pike/Lincoln County’s first public port along the Mississippi River.
PLCPA’s Executive Director Carolyn Wisecarver said, “We have worked on this project for the past two years and are extremely excited to be able to take it to the next stage. This will allow for additional jobs and development in our area” The purchase included approximately 3,100 acres north of Clarksville, Missouri on Highway 79. The immediate plans for the Harbor include cleaning up the property, repairs to the facility and dredging.
Wisecarver said, “We would not have been able to make this purchase without the support and partnership of our two local banks, Peoples Savings Bank and Community State Bank. Their partnership was instrumental in making this project even possible.”
PLCPA also received funding through the MoDot Capital Improvement Funds. We will be applying for additional grants to assist with the clean-up and development.
