CLARKSVILLE, Mo. — The Clopton Lady Hawks played on their home field for the last time this season and were defeated 10-0 in seven innings. The Lady Hawks were on a hot streak coming into Thursday night’s game, but their failure to execute offensively and their flawed defense ended their three-game win streak.
Clopton ace Brooklynn McKenney took the mound for the Hawks, throwing the complete game. A tough Wright City offense kept McKenney and her defense on their toes. Hard hits and timely hitting allowed Wright City to maintain their lead throughout the game. Shana Yates, the Lady Hawks shortstop, showcased her defensive range this evening, making some big plays for Clopton.
Down by ten runs in the last inning, the Hawks bats started warm-up. With two outs in the last inning, the Hawks found themselves with runners on second and third base. Wright City would go on to end the run threat, picking up the seven-inning shutout.
Clopton will battle Bowling Green on Tuesday night with first pitch at 5:00 P.M. The Lady Hawks will wrap up regular season play next Thursday, October 8 against the Van-Far Lady Indians.
