Options for Women will hold its 9th annual Walk For Life and BBQ on Saturday, May 13th, at the Bowling Green City Park. Registration will begin at the lower shelter house at 10:30 am, with the Walk beginning at 11:00. Registration is also available online at  https://secure.fundeasy.com/ministrysync/event/?e=24828.  Walk as much or as little as you like.  Each registered participant is encouraged (but not required) to raise $150 in pledges, which can be raised through your own individual online fundraising page, or turned in on the day of the event.   You can register as a team, family or individual for the event.   Major sponsors for the event include Paul Schuchard State Farm, People’s Savings Bank and People’s Bank and Trust Company.  Other sponsors include: Bowling Green Lumber and Cosmos Bathing Systems.

The event will feature live music by the St. Louis area band, Replay.  A barbecue will also be held with eat-in or carry-out available from 11 am to 1 pm. The menu will include hamburgers, pork burgers, hot dogs, prepackaged chips and desserts, and bottled water and lemonade.  T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the barbecue and donations from the Walk For Life will go to support the Options for Women Pregnancy Resource Center, located at 1420 S. Bus. 61, Suite B at the roundabout in Bowling Green.  Options for Women opened in Bowling Green in 2016, and in the fall of 2022, opened a new Hannibal location.  Options for Women serves pregnant women and young mothers and fathers from Pike and surrounding counties. Services provided include lab grade pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and life coaching, all confidential and at no cost. Pregnancy, parenting, and life skills classes are offered free at the center and online, with incentives for participation. Options for Women also offers referrals for medical help and temporary housing for expectant mothers in need, prenatal vitamins, counseling and support for those grieving an abortion or miscarriage, adoption referrals, information on abortion and abortion pill reversal, a mentoring program for young men, and ongoing support and encouragement to young parents.
