LOUISIANA, Mo. — The Silex Lady Owls and Louisiana Lady Bulldogs battled for a conference win alongside battling mother nature in Tuesday night’s softball matchup. The Lady Owls clenched their second EMO conference win, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 13-0 in five innings.
Posting five runs in the first inning, Silex brought hot bats to a quiet Louisiana defense. Louisiana’s ace, Emily Powell took the mound and battled through three innings on the mound before being relieved by Ty Campbell.
Alongside Silex’s strong offense, Louisiana’s bats were silenced once again by powerful pitching. Taylor Howard, the Lady Owl’s starting pitcher, brought the heat, putting the ball past her opponents. Her speed and pitch location allowed her to maneuver through Louisiana’s line up efficiently and get her team back in the batter’s box to score some more runs.
Louisiana is still searching for their first win of the season and will battle Van-Far on Thursday, possibly securing not only a win on the season, but an EMO conference win.
The Lady Owls moved to 2-0 in conference play and will look to defend their undefeated EMO title on Friday when they face Community R-VI.
