PIKE COUNTY, Mo. – The State of Missouri moves into Phase 2 of the “Show Me Strong Recovery Plan” where there will be no statewide public health orders and Missouri will be fully open for business.
Missouri Governor Mike Parson said last week, even though Missouri will be fully open, local officials still have the ability to put further rules, regulations or ordinances in place. According to the governor’s press release, unless otherwise noted by local officials, all restrictions are lifted as of June 16th.
“At this time, the county will be following the guidance that was issued in the press release by the governor on Phase 2 of the recovery plan,” noted Pike County, MO Health Department, Home Health and Hospice Administrator Rhonda Stumbaugh.
While the state is reopening, Gov. Parson’s did extend Executive Order 20-12 through Dec. 30, 2020, in order to utilize federal CARES Act funding. It was noted that extending the order also allows continued flexibility in deploying resources around the state and gives Missourians more time to adjust as the state works through the economic recovery process. “We must remember that COVID-19 is not gone,” Governor Parson said. “It is still extremely important for everyone to continue social distancing. Be proactive. Avoid large, congested crowds, and if you can’t social distance, take extra precautions to protect yourself and those around you.”
“We all know how to do this now and it is up to us to take responsibility for our own actions,” added Governor Parsons.
He added that even though the state will be fully reopened on June 16th, it’s still important to continue social distancing and practicing proper hygiene to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
