PLEASANT HILL, Ill. — Pointing to the current state of affairs with the state, the Pike County Fair Board opted to pull the plug on the 2020 event.
The Fair Board in Pleasant Hill, Ill., made the announcement on Tuesday, May 5.
“It is with heavy hearts, that after three weeks of discussion and a final vote today, the Pike County Fair Board has decided to cancel the 2020 Pike County Fair. This was not a decision that was made lightly, however with the state of affairs within our state and throughout the country, we felt that this was the prudent way to go.”
The release went on to ask residents for their understanding and shared well wishes for the health and safety of all families.
“We understand that the pandemic has not hit our area hard but it has affected many others throughout our state. As we live in Illinois, we will abide by their judgement. We will continue to work as hard as ever too bring you an even bigger and better fair in 2021,” the release went on to state.
Fair boards throughout the bi-state area are making plans and weighing options for events slated this summer.
